September, thus far, has been a roller coaster of skin stress. As the clock struck midnight deadly lumps of poison erupted on my chin and mouth area. It was a mess and prompted a swift trip to Boots for the Effacularduo spot treatment  (Another beauty story. part 2). My skin finally dried up, leaving in its wake darkened pigmentation and scars...(Grrr) my skin went super sensitive and irritated for a few days but seemed to calm quite rapidly when I reintroduced the AMAZING Emma Hardie Moringa Balm (Another beauty story. Part 1). Straight away my skin is more supple and pores noticeably smaller. Followed by the gorgeous Sanctuary pore refining toner and a slathering of the ultimate BUDGET moisturiser Olay multi-radiance fluid! My skin is looking Gooooood!!! My skin just has this really satisfying glow to it. I enhance this just that little bit more using the Becca Shimmering skin perfector as a base, followed by the Laura Mercier oil free tinted moisturiser in Porcelain. This has been my routine for a few days now and my skin is lov-in-it !! xx

Another Beauty Story. Part 2

My beauty story continues with a shock to the system. I may have went a little too far on the tanning stakes. The fake bake was Far too dark for me. What I hoped would give my legs more of a "sumink-sumink",  looked more like a mud bath. In a panic I applied the gel to the rest of my body, which I streaked and then showered off straight away. I'm actually quite scared of this now and don't see myself using it any time soon. Hashtag: too much too soon.

Next up in my beauty saga was a trip to Superdrug. I was concerned that my MAC studio finish concealer and Soap and Glory Kick Ass concealers were not only too light for my now "tanned skin" but were also too drying on drying spots. Causing a nasty flaky effect. In the aisles of Superdrug my head was swayed by the much hyped Collection illuminating concealer. As my Body Shop highlighter pen had recently finished I was open to buying a new highlighting concealer pen. Now this ok. It's lightweight but no where near as illuminating as my Body Shop one and seems to make my skin look a little cakey on application. I don't think I'll repurchase to be honest and will probably be give it away the first chance I get to purchase the YSL Touche Éclat, once and for all! I also picked up the Rimmel Wake me up Concealer in Soft beige. Although this is the same colour as my Rimmel wake me up foundation, it is infact much lighter. I like the concealer. It does the job whilst keeping the skin glowing, like its foundation counterpart. Downside to the concealer line, I guess, is that there were only two shades available. A yellow toned medium beige colour (mine) and a pink toned medium beige colour. Fail.

Using my boots points I thought I would treat myself to a Barry M Gelly polish. My obsession with orangey reds was also at an all time high so Passion Fruit was the perfect shade for me. I find the application really weird, as it sort of gloops apart on the nail. It has a high shine finish and is actually rather long lasting so over all I'm impressed. I might treat myself to some more when there's a 3 for 2 offering later in the year.

Back to my face and my breakouts were getting out of control and I gave I into the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo hype. I've heard lots of good things about this online and despite my ingrained belief that spot treatments don't do anything and that the results cannot be verified (I GOT SPOTS) I do feel like this helps my spots dry up faster than they ordinarily would. I don't find that it helps with clogged skin though and spots have appeared despite using this. It does give a lovely satiny finish though so, even if there's a little bit of a placebo affect at work here, I feel like I'm doing something towards dealing with my Breakout.

finally, finally, finally I might of had ordered a few exciting bits from SpaceNK.com : Nars Laguna Bronzer, Nars eyeshadow primer and Laura Mercier oil free tinted moisturiser. I'm still trying to work out how to best use these bits. First impressions are thus: I love the colour of Laguna but find that it doesn't blend very easily for me. Am I a weirdo? I'm sure I'll figure it out and I think the coverage of the tinted moisturiser is fabulous but, as yet, I find it a little lacklustre on my skin and I think it works best with an illuminating base, I'm loving pairing it with Becca's shimmering skin perfector at the moment. Am yet to try the eye primer, so when the day comes for eye shadow action, I'm all over it...

Another Beauty Story. Part 1

The past month and a half has flown and despite not blogging my preoccupation with beauty products has still been at large. Here are my beauty headlines during My absence. Enjoy xoxo

First I decided I needed some tanning products for my face, as I have been tanning my body with Garnier Summer Body and I had fallen out of love with my Rimmel Shimmer sun (because it felt yak, was clogging my pores and was far too light). I picked up Soltan's once sunscreen with gradual tan and an accompanying Soltan face tanning mitt. I also hated this as it felt super awful on the skin and broke me out something chronic, so that, as well, went bye byes. Cue a plea to Vivianna does Makeup on twitter who pointed me in the direction of the Clarins Tanning lotion. This feels lovely on the skin, no nasty obnoxious scent and delivers a beautiful subtle tan. Love! I was also feeling that my legs were too white still, in relation to the rest of my body, so I went a-Boots-shopping to check out what they had in relation to  instant tanners. I picking up Fake Bake's instant gel. I haven't even taken the silver foil off yet and already it's vanilla scent is seeping through. It's yum though, so this doesn't matter, but if you hate the smell of vanilla I would steer clear of this.

I decided to pick up Rimmel's Wake me Up foundation in soft beige too. This is super dark (insert: orange) but is actually a pretty good match when I have tanned up. I was excited to try this as this foundation has always received such rave reviews but was never pale enough for me. Funnily enough, now I am tanned, the lightest shade Ivory is too pale and the second deepest shade: Nude ivory is too pink in tone so soft beige came home with me. It smells very fruity and nice and melts into the skin beautifully, however please steer clear if you have oily skin. This mofo is DEWY!! And applied above facial sunscreens which give a super glow too (currently using Caudelie Soleil Divin anti-aging face suncare), this needs powder to tone down the shine!! But I like the glow (read all about it here) so it's fine. It doesn't give the nicest finish I have ever come across, but "[it'll] do, Donkey, [it'll] do." (Shrek) For most the month though I have found that it is too dark so have been mixing it with Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum foundation. It's a fab combination and worked well.

Since my last Beauty Update I have run out of No7's hot cloth cleanser and decided to treat myself to the PRODUCT OF THE MOMENT... DRUM ROLL PLEASE... EMMA HARDIE'S MORINGA CLEANING BALM - woop woop!! First thoughts are thus: they have updated the packaging and is much better in my opinion and matches the golden tub inside. The tub is thicker and shorter now. For some reason in a week 3 cracks  have mysteriously appeared underneath the plastic and I am waiting for the product to leak (lots of reviewers say it leaks). It smells super sweet and is akin to a facial oil. It leaves my skin so smooth, silky, soft, supple, lush, touchable, gorgeous... I almost don't want to tone and moisturise afterwards. My skin appears to love this LOTS!!!

In other beauty news. I finally wore my Illamasqua Throb nail varnish the other day and was wowed and in awe of its beautiful application, stunning, perfect, red colour and outstanding wearability. The best nail varnish I have ever used? I think so. Also Morrocan oil has continued to be my best friend this hot season, more at the moment than ever before actually. I have also been trying out Benefit's They're Real mascara and despite this giving a great lash effect, it smudges really badly and at this stage in the beauty game one does not appreciate the panda eyed look - I'll be sticking to my beloved L'oreal Mega Volume Collagene 24 Mascara.
