I like my hair to be white! As platinum and as brassiness free as possible. Therefore a violet or silverising shampoo is essential. At present PRO:VOKE has the monopoly on silverising shampoos, in Boots at least, as it is the only one available. I have only used one other and it was some nobody brand from Sally's hair supply store, and the name of which escapes me. So the PRO:VOKE touch of silver twice a week brightening shampoo, with violet pigment, aims to actively neutralises brassiness (yellow tones) in your hair. My impressions are that it is probably identical to the other silversing shampoo I have used. The shampoo is very liquidy, so be careful as it will drip everywhere. It doesn't foam up or is particularly nourishing to the hair at all. It has a potent medication shampoo kind of smell. But that isn't too offensive. I do find that it dries your hair out quite a bit, so the use of a moisturising conditioner, to follow, is a must.

The most important thing to mention is that it works. It acts as a toner and truly does what it says on the tin - it neutralises brassiness. Therefore it is very important to follow the instructions and use it twice a week for 5 minutes at a time IF you don't want your hair to go grey. It can happen. I personally love that and will happily leave it on my hair for half an hour, an hour (eek). I repeat though that this is not good for your hair! My hair hasn't fallen out or anything, but again using a good moisturising conditioner and something like Moroccan Oil to soften out your hair is a good idea. Its a steal at £3.09 on the Boots Website . Very cheap and you won't be disappointed. I Highly recommend. xoxo

the tinted moisturiser saga continues: MAC - your out!!

I have been logging my experience with the MAC studio moisture tint, starting from how it saved the day as the Laura Mercier oil free tinted moisturiser was out of stock in my colour, read this tale HERE!! through my review. (Read my product review HERE) To conclude my evaluation of this product: it wasn't a wow product and it was really thick. Together I needed to use a moisturiser underneath to get the luminosity and moisture surge I needed! the real problem and the deal breaker is that this tinted moisture breaks me out! Everytime I use this my face explodes in pimples. First time it was my chin and left cheek and cheek bone. Second time it was my forehead and my chin. The third time it's my right and left cheek and my forehead and the last time? Oh my god. The third time was the worst. What started as two unsqueezable deep whiteheads, became painful lumps and then nasty explosive white heads. As I type this I have scabs after a unavoidable squeezing session. Enoughs, enough and I'm not having it anymore! I think the lesson of the day is don't impulse buy. The studio moisture tint is being passed on and I'm back to square one. It seems MAC saved the battle but the war rages on. The saga continues!

Going Au Naturel

Sometimes I don't want to look like a Kardashian. Sometimes I don't want to wear my contact lenses and wear eyeshadow and so much mascara I can't raise my eyelids. Sometimes I don't even want to wear foundation, concealer or coverage of any kind. Sometimes I want to look healthy, GLOWING (obvs ;-D), and completely Au Naturel. I start by massaging Becca's Shimmering skin perfector all over my face - this brings the skincare and sun protection and the GLOW!! Then I buff my Soleil Tan de Chanel into the high points of my face, this brings the warm GLOW and faux healthy - spent the day running around in a field of flowers - look. I fill in my brows with my Clinique superfine liner for brows, in 01 soft blonde, to bring the healthy look together and then a slick of lip balm. I've fallen back in love with my Nivea soothe and Protect lip balm, as it gives a natural healthy sheen to the lips. I have been using this for years - it even featured in one of my first blog posts. SEE HERE. But back then it was called Repair and Protect. And that's it! Greatness! I feel so fresh and summery wearing this 4 product combo - bring on the hotter weather, maxi dresses and sandals. Hash tag: I love it!! Please follow me on TWITTER and this blog on BLOGLOVIN for more posts! Much Love Natalie xoxo

What's in a smell??

The smell of a beauty item can make or break a purchase. I'm so sensitive to smells and if I don't like it I'm not buying it or it's not in my beauty stash very long. The Chanel and YSL foundations are examples of products that are great but the smell prevents me from buying them.

First of all I am hyper sensitive to perfumes - 90% on the shelf I hate the smell of and 9.9% of perfumes which I like settle into a nasty stink on my skin. Because of this I have never been a perfume person and can go months without even wearing any! Because of this I own only one - eau de parfum Dior Jadore. My boyfriends cologne Amarni attitude is my favourite smell of all time and I have actually worn this on myself before!

The smell of a product is very important when we're talking about body care! of course how well it melts into the skin and how comfortable it is is a factor but the smell is definitely the clincher. My current shower cream is Nivea happy time with "invigorating orange blossom scent." It was only 98p but 'oh my god' it smells like orange starburst! lussshhhh. The Body Shop is the king of body butters and body scrubs My all time favourite scent is the coconut but at present I only have the strawberry body butter and the Sweet lemon whip body lotion. They smell sweet and fruity and AMAZING.

Now onto to skincare and makeup. I think overall I like my beauty face products to be fragrance free but every now and then a nice smelling product doesn't hurt. Beginning with No7 Instant Radiance beauty balm. I bought this, initially, purely because it smelt of fruit salad sweets. That's it. Sure I wanted the radiant aspect (GLOW I NEED MORE GLOW) but mainly because of the smell. I also love the smell of my Olay multi-radiance fluid. Yum. The smell of the Soleil Tan de Chanel smells amazing too, as does the Bourjois healthy mix serum foundation. Oh and finally, I couldn't not mention, my beloved Clarin's instant light lip perfectors. They smell like caramel - yum!!

Well there you have it - my favourite smelling products! I think in such a cluttered market place, where the is an abundance of choice, everything counts and smell can be a deal breaker. I hope you guys enjoyed this post Please follow me on TWITTER and this blog on BLOGLOVIN for more. Much love Natalie xoxo

Product Review: Benefit Instant Brow Pencil

Benefit is great. I enjoy perusing their counter and like their fun names and funky packaging, I especially like their holiday gift sets, but I don't often drop any money on them; but after checking out every. single. eyebrow pencil in Boots I finally decided on the Benefit Instant brow pencil. At the time I found that it was the lightest, ashiest pencil. Most eyebrow pencils are too red or far too dark.

The best bit about this brow pencil is that it has a spooly attachment. This saves time and space (in your beauty bag - when travelling) when doing your brows. It's a soft pencil, which you need to sharpen quickly. But despite my fears this has lasted much longer than I expected it too. Bad bits - I have found better in Cliniques superfine liner for brows in soft blonde, I think it is called. I also prefere the Clinique pencil because it is thinner and a wind up mechanism, rather than sharpen, which, sorry Benefit and every other brow pencil manufacturer, is a pain! I actually find that it is just that little bit too dark, so is left to night time makeup looks. I did really like it but as I have found better I would recomend the clinique eyebrow pencils over this one unfortunately. In its defence though, It is prettier than the Clinique pencil. But as we all know, when it comes to the crunch, substance wins over style. The Benefit Instant Brow Pencil comes in 3 shades and retails for £15. Product Review: The Body Shop Lightening Touch Highlighter pen

Ladies and gentlemen I present to you, one of few products that I have finished and have literally had to run out and repurchase the same day because my life felt so empty without it! It is The Body Shop's version of the YSL touche eclat and I really like it I do! It's a light coverage concealer with light diffusing particles, adding that little bit of radiance to your under eye area. When applied on the high points of your face it adds a subtle luminescence to the skin, which is quite marvellous quite frankly.

The 3ml highlighting concealer retails for £14 HERE and comes in 3 shades. It comes in a smart little package - a chic mirrored metallic twist up pen and integrated brush. I have bought this twice I have never found it to leak or the brush head to malt or experienced any malfunctions or mishaps with this at all! I think it's a great product which is quick and easy to use. I am very happy with this.

My only problem is that I have never tried another one and as such I can't compare it to anything else on the market. It is actually running out now and I have the tough decision of which highlighting concealer to buy next (because obviously it is an essential item in my life)! Do I go uber cheap and trial the Collection offering, do I buy this one again; with the mantra "if it ain't broke don't fix it" or... or... do I buy the beauty girls HG the YSL Touche Eclat itself??? Decisions, Decisions!!

Glow, I need more Glow

My time of wearing high coverage, matt foundations is a distant memory as I get into my glow stride! My love for the glow, radiant, dewy, luminous youthful and beautiful skin has reached critical levels. I start with a radiance enhancing serum before bed, namely the No7 overnight radiance boost serum and Alpha H liquid gold overnight treatment. They give your skin a luminescence when you wake up. Then onto the moisturiser. I like to use Olay multi radiance fluid or Charlotte Tilbury's Magic cream which both give your skin a radiance. oh it doesn't stop there. Next on the agenda is a radiance enhancing primer. My fav is no7 radiance beauty Balm!! This is niiccee! if I feel the need I have actually used my Becca Shimmering Skin perfector in pearl as a base too! I either skip a foundation all together or use a radiance enhancing Beauty Balm like Dr Jarts+ waterfuse beauty balm or Bourjois health mix serum foundation for a bit more coverage. It's a cheaper nicer smelling alternative to the YSL touché éclat foundation! A highlighting concealer pen is a must to sweep under the eye and on the high points of the face to give a subtle luminous. Cue The body shop's highlighter in 02. I have been using this for years and might actually bite the bullet and buy the king of highlighter pens - the YSL touché Éclat - when this runs out! what is great about all the products I use thus far are all glowing without the shimmer and most have skin benefits.

Now the final ingredient to getting the perfect glow is the final highlight. This could be a post in itself but I'm going to break it down. I have 5 highlighter-esque products which I use depending on the occasion and how I feel. Becca Shimmering Skin perfector in pearl. Back to Becca. This is lush to use without foundation but is key to my no makeup makeup look! It's a liquid highlighter which, although subtle and natural, packs a punch. Jemma Kidd Dewy Glow. This is a lush cream highlighter which is just amazing! It lasts all day and when the day comes and tgi runs out, I'm wearing black for a month. Dior Amber diamonds - Another HG product. This highlighting powder gives a subtle golden highlight which I love to use web it's mid summer and I'm tannin myself up. Sleek contour kit highlighter - This pink powder highlight packs a punch. It's not subtle by any means but sometimes an obnoxious highlight is what the doctor ordered. And finally the beautiful Accessorise Merged Baked blush in 05 sensation. This is SHIMMERY and I love it. I use it as a blush/highlight combo on days when I just need to shine like a disco ball! And that is that I think. My highlighting stash to help me get the glow!! Giving-in to the hype - Becca Shimmering Skin perfector / pearl

I had been a little distracted by the sinking feeling and harsh realisation that Becca Cosmetics had been removed from the UK and that they're not being shipped here. I had long read about but evaded the Becca Shimmering skin perfecter only to desperately want it the minute it became unavailable to me! Cue Space NK to swoop in and save the day. As of last month Space NK exclusively sell Becca Cosmetics. Hooray!!

So here's yet another rave review of the cult liquid highlighter! If your yet to be swayed by the hundreds of reviews on the interweb, maybe I can persuade you to get on the band wagon too! This liquid highlighter not only contains ultra-fine mica to refelct light, making the skin appear healthy and glowing this wonder product also boasts an SPF of 25 plus to protect against 96% of UVA and UVB rays and contains anti-oxidant vitamins A, B, D and E to aid in tissue repair, increase collagen renewal and moisture holding capacity, while also protecting against pollution and free radical damage. Oh AND if that doesn't float your boat it also contains soothing, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic ingredients... (takes a breath) It comes in 4 shades to cater for all skin tones. It's 50ml and costs £33. WEBSITE LINK

First impressions are thus: this is a hearty little package. the rubber texturised bottle is sleek yet rather large at 50ml. You dispense the product using a pump. It's chic.. End of- packaging 10 out of 10!

Now onto the product - wow. That's it. wow! when I first swatched it on my hand I found that under artificial light it sparkled!! On the skin it gives a luminescent glow which lasts all day! I have also found that a little goes a very long way with this. If you apply too much it can give a white cast to the skin. It is absolutely stunning and the perfect highlighter! It's so easy to blend onto the skin too, no streakage or clumping at all.

I truly recommend this if your in the market for a new highlighter! This is pricey but well worth the investment! thankyou for stopping by. Please follow me on TWITTER and this blog on BLOGLOVIN for more :-) xoxoxo

4 months later - 2012 beauty heroes

Just going through my beauty stash I have come upon a few products which I am obsessed with which I found in 2012! 4 months into 2013 and I still Love them! Introducing the beauty heroes of 2012.

The first one up was Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Base. This smells gorgeous and is just the best cream bronzer ever. Although very large the packaging is lux. I enjoy applying this so much. I apply this with Real Techniques Buffing Brush - I do the E-3 bit and Im done. REVIEW HERE

Next up was the super hyped up Alpha-H liquid gold. Well come on any product called LIQUID GOLD needs to be tried out. It's an amazing nighttime treatment which gently exfoliates your skin for beautiful and radiant skin in the morning. REVIEW HERE

now we're on to hair care and the amazing Moroccan oil for fine hair. It's the first haircare product that has made me go wow since John Frieda's serum, but where that failed to work on my damaged bleach blonde locks Moroccan oil is the daddy. It tames frizz and leaves my hair looking polished and healthy. All hail! REVIEW HERE

I finally caved in and bought me some Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream. It's fabulous for your lips and any other dry patches on your body. Seriously this is a product I don't think I can ever be without now. Ill be an old lady reaching for my 8 hour cream I know it. So versatile so great! REVIEW HERE

Finally finding myself at an Illamasqua counter I got myself a sample of their skinbase foundation. The lady shade matched me perfectly with 4.5 and I used every foundation particle of this tester. Felt nauseous when it ran out and felt whole again when we were reacquainted. Truly the nicest foundation I have found at this juncture. REVIEW HERE

And finally the super affective Body Shop hemp hand cream. It smells funky but it's the best hand cream I have ever used. Dry hands - vanquished! REVIEW HERE

:-D Thanks for reading guys. Please follow me on TWITTER and this blog on BLOGLOVIN. All the best, Natalie xoxo

MAC Studio Moisture Tint SPF15

The ominous "light" shade or the so called "one shade fits all" shade is always far too dark. For me half the battle is finding a shade that fits and low and behold I have finally found mine in MAC's moisture tint in LIGHT. Hooray. If your NC20 or lighter I would recommend you try this out too. The moisture tints come in six shades, ranging from light, medium, medium dark, medium plus, dark and dark plus, and retails for £21. Buy Here - LINK. Please check out my MAC hauling post HERE.

I like the packaging alot. Its a sleek 40ml silver tube with a rubber, twist off, lid. I love the white 'MAC' embossed box it comes in too. The lid gets grubby, but that's no big deal really. In regards to the tinted moisturiser itself, it is very thick and actually doesn't feel that moistursing on the skin. It doesn't give a luminescence to the skin which I love so much. It evens my skin tone but looks a little flat to be honest. I find it blends better if I apply a base before hand. I also find that I apply my no7 radiance beauty balm before hand to give me that glow. It doesn't cling on to any dry patches or cake and fades away seemlessly during the day. I do find however that you need to realy buff this in as to begin with it streaks quite a bit. Its not too drastic but it requires a little bit of effort.

Overall I think this is ok. It has the light coverage which I require and although it doesn't give me that glow I personally desire, I can easily recify that with a luminous primer. But that isn't the biggest problem I have with this product. I have to say that I have this absolutely awful feeling that this is breaking me out! I have heard about MAC face products breaking people out in the past and I'm praying that this isn't to blame for my two (very out of character) spot breakouts in the past few weeks. Check my 'I got spots' post HERE. Not happy about this development at all!! Another minus point MAC. In truth I will still use up this product but one more breakout I might not be so forgiving!!
