February Favourites

This month I have been combatting the cold and having a love affair with Illamasqua. I am finding that when my skin has been playing up, one night of Alpha-H liquid gold and my skin is playing ball once again. Blemishes are visibly reduced and dry patches have been quenched. No7 Instant radiance beauty balm is absolutely beautiful at giving a lucious glow to my skin. I have been addicted to using Elizabeth Ardens 8 hour cream and The Body Shops Hemp hand cream to sooth and moisturise chapped skin. Although I wasn't convinced when I first reviewed this Chanel Rouge coco shine lipstick. I have found that it is my go to lipstick. It's just so easy to apply and finishes a day or evening look off a treat!

Now on to my new found obsession with Illamasqua. Their skin base foundation has longed been crowned my holy grail foundation and I continue to love it throughout the winter months. I'm also obsessed with their speckled nail varnish in Speckle. Its a lush lilac colour with silver glitter thoguhout giving mini egg nails. And finally HG product alert AGAIN. This lash and brow set is absolutely fantastic. Your eyebrows just don't budge!! Seriously it's a fantastic product. I highly reccomend you buy it if your after a eyebrow gel! Thankyou for reading. Please follow me for more of the same... Thankyou xoxo

Illamasqua Speckle

The plan was to stop buying nail varnish every time I painted my nails but then the Illamasqua I'mperfection collection happened! And the mini egg-esc "speckled" nail varnishes, in said collection, happened. And Hello Speckle, who arrived just in time for my next manicure! It has silver glitter suspended in a lilac cream nail polish. It applies well and it's opaque in two coats. It also dries really quickly too! It dries to a semi-gloss finish. I prefer it with a matt topcoat! I found that it chips as much as any other brand of polish, with or without a top coat! I must be doig something wrong. Shop HERE - I'd hurry up if your interested as they're limited edition! Have you tried any of the speckled nail varnishes? xoxo

Illamasqua Skin Base

Skin Base is a fabulous foundation. I just adore it. I get lots of foundation testers but I have never used one up so quickly. It truly does what it says on the tin. This sits perfectly on my combination skin. It has no SPF, which lots of people find unnerving in the beauty world, but whatevs. This photographs very well and gives my skin a dewy glow and awesome coverage. You need the tiniest amount of this and that is just as well because the nozzle is tiny and it takes more effort than it should to squeeze anything out of this. The packaging, although 30mg, is really small. Its a thick cream which I prefer to stipple on my skin using a Real Techniques stippling brush. If your after a new foundation I really reccomend you check this out. It comes in a very large shade range in both warm and cool tones. Go on to see for yourself.

No7 Instant Radiance Beauty Balm

This beauty is absolutely gorgeous. It retails for approximately £17.00 sold at Boots. Unlike the Asian inspired beauty balms we have been inundated with in the past year or so, this beauty balm works to illuminate the complexion only. I use this after my moisturiser to help give my skin a lovely glow. Although this is not necessarily for my skin type. I have combination skin and this is really for dry skins; this product is working really well with my winter skin. Its a lightweight, metallic pink, luminescent cream which melts into the skin beautifully and doesn't feel heavy or greasy. I imagine it may get a tad greasy in the summer months. Do you want to know the best bit? It smells like fruit-salad sweets - divine! xoxo

Nail Pampering Sessions

It has become a weekly ritual. Every sunday evening I sit at the coffee table whilst watching TV and give my nails a really good pampering session and apply a new polish. I find that if you give your nails regular TLC and prep them properly then your polish will not only apply better it will look much nicer. What is the point in putting in the man hours to create even and opaque polish, if you have rough cuticles and dry and flaking skin around the nail?

First up I shape my nails using a nail file. I currently use a random star-ended one from a gift set from Christmas. Then, using a curved, 4-step, buffing file, I buff, smooth and polish my nails, followed by nail and cuticle oil. Cuticle oil is a much more nail friendly way to remove cuticles than using cuticle sticks. After using this for a little while you start to see results.

Before I paint my nails I protect my nails using the Rimmel base coat that strengthens and protects them. Once I've applied my nail polish I use the much hyped about Seche Vite top coat. I think its good but my nail varnish still chips after a day. I think that might have something to do with my thick application of nail varnish.but oh well. I have really seen an improvement in the conditions of my nails since I started pampering my nails. They're stronger and don't chip anymore - hooray! xoxo
